How to Be Ethical While Business Networking ...

Networking with other business professionals is essential to a successful business. Many businesses grow simply by word of mouth and through recommendations from other well-respected businesses. Networking can be the best and most cost-effective way to advertise your business. However, you must be ethical while networking. A business that lacks ethics is doomed to failure. To remain ethical and yet grow your business here are a few guidelines to follow

Step 1:

Be honest. This is the most important thing to remember. Whether you are dealing with a client, staff, co-worker or business affiliate, always be honest. When proposing a business deal with an affiliate, be clear and concise on what you want
to accomplish for your business and for theirs.

Step 2:

Thank and reward a referring business for any clients they send your way. Many companies offer free products or services based on the number of referrals that
they receive. At the very least, send a thank-you card.

Step 3:

Give referrals as often as you receive them. This is a great way to grow your business and advertise inexpensively, especially for a smaller business. Have your referring company's business cards handy and available.

Step 4:

Respect other people's businesses, even if you feel that yours is superior and you want them to leave their company to join yours. If you disrespect or downplay their business or product, they will lose respect for your business and you will risk losing referrals.

Step 5:

Educate yourself on not only your own products and services but the other company's as well. You want to be sure that you know what you're talking about while networking with others.
